From Pixel Art to Perler Beads
Pixel art workflow from grid checks to placement and ironing for a flat finish.
Pixel art already speaks the same language as beads, so the jump is easier than most people think. A few checks before you start will save you from a crooked build or a warped finish.
Pre flight checklist
- Check the grid and legend before placing beads. Make sure the color map matches the pattern you plan to build.
- Use a pegboard plan to avoid layout mistakes. Tape boards together if the design is bigger than one panel.
- Iron fuse beads evenly for a flat finish. Slow and steady heat wins.
Why the grid matters
If the grid count does not match your board, the pattern will drift and you will end up moving beads mid build. Take a minute to confirm the width and height before the first bead goes down.
Build smart
Work in sections and keep your colors in small trays. It keeps the build tidy and makes mistakes easier to spot. If you are working from a printed legend, mark off rows as you go.
Iron with patience
Even heat gives the cleanest look. Move the iron in small circles, let the beads soften, then stop. Let the piece cool under a flat book or board to lock in the shape.
Pixel art wants to be turned into beads. Treat it with care and it will reward you.
