Perler Beads Bead Count and Cost Estimator
Estimating bead count and budget for large projects with leftover-saving tips.
Big projects are fun until you run out of beads mid build. A quick estimate keeps the budget realistic and the shopping trip short.
Estimate beads from grid size and color count
A full pegboard is basically a grid of holes. Multiply the width by the height to get the max bead count. A 29 by 29 board holds 841 beads. If your design uses only half the board, cut that in half. Once you know the total beads, divide by your color percentages to plan each color.
Budget for large wall pieces
Large Perler beads wall pieces can swallow multiple bags of a single color. If your main color covers 40 percent of a mural, buy extra. It is cheaper to have leftovers than to stop halfway and pay for rush shipping.
Save fuse beads by reusing leftovers
Save fuse beads by reusing leftover colors in smaller projects. Build keychains, tiny icons, or test patterns to use up partial bags. That habit keeps your stash rotating and your costs lower.
Simple estimator formula
Total beads = grid width x grid height x fill percentage
If you estimate 3000 beads and each bag holds 1000, you need three bags. Add one spare bag for your main color and you are set.
