Fuse Beads Dithering and Solid Colors
When to use dithering for gradients and when to switch to solid blocks.
Dithering is that speckled, checker look you see in pixel art. It can be magic for gradients, but it can also turn a clean design into visual static. Here is how to decide when to sprinkle and when to go solid.
Dithering helps gradients
If your image has soft lighting or a smooth color shift, dithering helps gradients in fuse beads art. A few alternating pixels can fake a blend without adding 10 extra bead colors. It is especially good for skies, skin highlights, or soft shadows.
Too much becomes noise
Pegboards are physical. When you scatter too many alternating colors, the eye stops seeing a blend and starts seeing noise. Too much dithering adds noise on pegboards, and it can make simple shapes feel fuzzy.
Solid blocks keep icons clean
For logos and icons, skip the sprinkle. Use solid blocks for clean Perler beads icons. Solid areas read faster, iron flatter, and look crisp from a distance.
A simple balance test
Zoom out on the pattern preview. If the subject looks grainy instead of smooth, reduce the dither. If the gradient looks like a hard band, add a small dither strip. You want the smallest amount of texture that sells the transition.
